moving forward

wow! am i glad that i never have to plan a wedding.
just getting this far has been challenging. but, we're married and we're psyched - we want to shout it out! we hope that you all in town will help us pull off this party - entertain, catch fish, pick flowers, make salads...

from far and wide, we know that you'll have an amazing vacation! if you've been here before, you know what i mean, if you haven't, you'll see how we all got stuck here.

we want to help you plan your trip, Girdwood is about 40 miles south of Anchorage and 90 miles north of Seward, 2 potential entry points. if you come by sea then you'll probably wind up in Seward, by land or air, Anchorage. the train passes through all 3 towns, you can rent a car in Anchorage (ask margi for a discount code to use), or, we can help coordinate pickups.

lots of rental properties are available in Girdwood - that's our recommendation if you're looking for the most cost effective way to do it - especially if there's a crew of you. scott posted a couple of links above that should help. let us know if you want us to check out an address for you. B&Bs and The Hotel Alyeska are other options, ones where you can pay to not have to do the dishes. it's going to be the start of slow season around here so we're not going to bother blocking off rooms at the hotel, there should be plenty available.

airfare is decent right now - i've seen $445 from new york to anchorage advertised by a couple of different airlines. that's at little as i've ever paid for that trip and those fares might disappear quickly - i can't imagine that they'll go any lower. kayak.com, cheaptickets.com, travelocity.com and hotwire.com are my preferred websites. apparently cruise lines are deeply discounting trips to AK as well. i would just google for those.

i'll be travelling for work until aug. 9 and then we should both be around for the weeks on either side of the 8.22 party

  1. thanks for the invite margi. i got it through good old facebook. fun to see your pictures and hear a little more about your wedding day. i think celebrating your first year of marriage with a casual alaskan party is such a great idea. i'm pretty certain i'll be in town on 8/22 and i'm definitely looking forward to a good time in girdwood with you both.
